Lincoln Electric Company of Cleveland Ohio USA`s organizational Culture is exceptional and has earned it the acolade of being the best managed manufacturing company in the whole world. I will explore and attempt to identify culture aspects of Lincoln Electric from several issues such as; the continuing influence of founders of the company, the golden rule, the incentive management plan,the performance appraisal system, how people communicate in the organization, the merit pay plan, the bonus plan, and the management style. Normally Founders instill the culture they want right from the beginning of their organizations. That is exactly what John C Lincoln did when he established his company Lincoln Electric in 1895. He stablished a culture of innovation and even left administrative burdens of the company to a brother, James Lincoln, so he could focus on innovation. This streak has continued to date where Lincoln is not afraid to experiment with new ideas .e.g. the cost saving feature of welding electrodes for construction and equipment manufacturing. The electrode process at Lincoln remains a secretive affair which won`t be divulged to outsiders. According to the OCP framework on organizational culture innovative cultures are not fussy about titles and flat in their structure that is they are less bureaucratic.
